Sumi Village in Yangpyeong is a rural experience and retreat village located in Yangpyeong, known for its clear waters. It is one of Korea's leading rural experience villages, designated a premier village after ranking No. 1 in all rural tourism evaluation categories: activities, accommodation, and food. In 2013, it received the Presidential Award at the “Korea Rural Village Awards,” and it offers rural experiences 365 days a year under the theme of green rural tourism. A variety of exciting seasonal programs draw on the village's crops and beautiful natural surroundings. This winter, the Yangpyeong Smelt and Trout Festival returns with activities centered on smelt and trout. The festival grounds offer not only smelt catching with scoop nets and barehanded trout catching, but also fishing areas for smelt and trout. Other enjoyable activities include making your own pizza, making steamed buns, creating succulent arrangements, and riding ATVs across open fields.
