Featuring: Kim Ki-ho, holder of the National Intangible Heritage designation for gold leaf craftsmanship
From 2026/9/10 (Thu) to 11/1 (Sun), Mugyewon will host “Golden Stars Meet the Universe,” the 17th exhibition in its special exhibition series, The Beauty of Korea. This year’s invited artist is master craftsman Kim Ki-ho, holder of the National Intangible Heritage designation for gold leaf craftsmanship and head of Geumbagyeon, a traditional gold leaf craft workshop that has continued the family business for 6 generations since 1856, during the reign of King Cheoljong of Joseon.
The exhibition brings together over 40 works showcasing traditional gold leaf techniques passed down from the Joseon royal court and their expansion into a contemporary artistic language. Visitors can explore a broad range of works, from the gold leaf craft traditions of the Joseon royal court to new creations inspired by the universe.
Experience the artistic world of master craftsman Kim Ki-ho, spanning tradition and modernity, and the diverse charms of gold leaf craftsmanship in Mugyewon’s hanok spaces.
